What:

CVIMS provides (among many services):

  • LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers) classes for adult newcomers to Canada who are older than 17. The Centre offers ELSA literacy levels 1 through 7, covering important topics such as Canadian law, healthcare, society, and jobs.
  • They also offer the HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Pre-School Youngsters) CANADA program which supports parents in helping their young children prepare for school.

When:

The CVIMS office is open Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Contact CVIMS for program schedules.

How:

Classes are free for permanent residents or new Canadians with free child care available on site. Many different languages are spoken at CVIMS in order to help newcomers to Canada. Because of COVID-19, all services will continue to be delivered remotely through a combination of online and telephone appointments until further notice.
